Biography

With one foot planted in their musical roots, and one foot stepping into the future, The Final Sleep look to craft a collection of songs that not only hold interest individually, but also collectively. The music they create can be described as melodic, heavy, dark, uplifting and empowering. With smart songwriting, which includes the use of three guitarists, the band is able to blend clean, melodic sections and three-part guitar harmonies with vicious heaviness to generate a technicality in their work, all while preserving catchy, memorable songs. Vocally, the band is able to pull from a wide range of influences as well. Melodic vocal lines will seamlessly flow into deep guttural sections to venemous rasps, to wailing falsettos that break into three-part vocal harmonies.

While The Final Sleep has been playing in the Albany, N.Y. area for several years, they were able to solidify their lineup and musical direction with the addition of lead vocalist/third guitarist Jeff Andrews (HUSH, Ironweed, Held Under). Shortly after, the band added bassist/backing vocalist Jay VanDervoort (Burning Human) along with drummer Mike Van Dyne (Arsis). Together with guitarists Michael Stack (Burning Human, Dying Breed) and Kevin Maloney (Withstand), they have built a hometown reputation for their solid live performances and attention to song craft.
